An earlier leak had revealed that the vanilla Tab S8 will feature 45W charging, but perhaps that’s true for all three models. If you recall, that’s the same charging speed we get on the Galaxy Tab S7 series. So the new models seemingly won’t bring any upgrades in this department. It’s not really a bad thing though. 45W fast charging is quite fast for tablets. The Galaxy Tab S8 series could also feature battery packs identical to the Tab S7 series. We are expecting an 8,000mAh battery in the vanilla model, a 10,090mAh battery in Tab S8+, and an 11,500mAh battery in the Ultra model.
All three Galaxy Tab S8 models to feature Snapdragon 898 SoC
The source also claims that all three Galaxy Tab S8 models will run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 898 SoC. They will not be available with the Samsung Exynos 2200 chipset, no matter where in the world you’re located. To be fair, it’s not very surprising. We’ve heard this before, and Samsung has not used its in-house chip in its flagship tablets for quite some time now. But things are changing for the company’s Exynos processor lineup. The Exynos 2200 is expected to be the Korean giant’s true return to form in the mobile SoC market after a few years of underperformance. Among other things, the chipset will likely use an AMD GPU. However, a low yield means Samsung has to use the Snapdragon 898 in its next-gen flagship Android tablets. Even the Galaxy S22 series will reportedly use the upcoming Qualcomm processor in most markets. The Exynos 2200 will not likely be available in abundance until mid-2022. Anyway, Samsung’s last flagship Android tablet came a year ago — the Galaxy Tab S7 series in August 2020. The company is now due to launch a successor to that. But, with the Snapdragon 898 likely not coming until the end of this year, keep your hopes of seeing the Galaxy Tab S8 series arrive in the market in 2021 low. The new Samsung tablets could launch alongside the Galaxy S22 series in early 2022.
