According to SamMobile, who first reported this rollout, the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G is receiving this update with firmware version G781USQU6EULI. The update for the unlocked version of the phone comes with firmware version G781U1UEU6EULD. Android 12-based One UI 4.0 brings tons of new features and enhancements to Samsung’s Android-powered devices, including the Galaxy S20 FE 5G. As you can see in our coverage here, we have everything from UI overhauls to improved apps and optimizations coming our way. The majority of these changes will roll out to all eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is also getting the December 2021 Android security patch with this update. The January 2022 SMR (security maintenance release) has already rolled out to several Samsung devices. This phone also pick it up in the coming weeks. This month’s security update patches over 60 vulnerabilities found on Google’s version of Android as well as Samsung’s One UI.
Galaxy S20 FE will receive one more Android OS update
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE in late 2020 as an affordable flagship offering. The phone did well in the market, well enough to warrant a succeeding model this year. The company has been giving it a flagship treatment, rolling out monthly security patches as well as timely Android OS updates. Perhaps as much importance as the regular Galaxy S20 models. Launched with Android 10 onboard, the Galaxy S20 FE received the Android 11 update early last year. The Android 12 update is now rolling out to the phone in the US alongside its pricier siblings. Going forward, all Galaxy S20 models will receive at least one more Android OS update in their lifetime, i.e. Android 13. Meanwhile, if you’re rocking a Galaxy S20 FE stateside, you can now be on the lookout for the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update if you haven’t already received it. Simply navigate to Settings > Software update menu on your phone and tap on Download and install to see if an OTA (over the air) update is pending download.
