Android security update for January 2022 starts rolling out to the Galaxy S21 series

In any case, the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra are now getting this update, in the Netherlands. That’s only the starting point, though, as it’s likely the update will spread to way more countries really soon, within days. The update with firmware version ‘G99xBXXU4BULF’ started rolling out. This update includes the January patch, which means it’ll improve security on the Galaxy S21 series. In addition to that, Samsung listed “overall stability of functions”. What does that mean? Well, the company likely fixed some smaller bugs, and improved the performance of the Galaxy S21 series behind the curtain. That’s pretty much it as far as the update itself is concerned.

Bug fixes and stability improvements are also included in the update

This update comes on top of Android 12, as Android 12 rolled out to the Galaxy S21 series at the end of last year. So, it likely includes bug fixes introduced by that major update. Do note that this is a staged update, so even if it started rolling out in your region already, chances are you may not get it straight away. It is rolling out in stages, so it may take a while for you to receive it. What you can do, though, if you’re eager to get it, is head over to the phone’s Settings, and find the ‘Software update’. There, you can see if the update is available or not. That is a faster way of doing things, as it can take a while before your phone notifies you a new update is available. The Galaxy S22 series is coming next month, most probably. That makes the Galaxy S21 series Samsung’s flagship smartphone lineup still.
