The password manager feature in Google Chrome has gone through serious changes in recent months, and Google is striving to add more useful features to it. The ability to send passwords is spotted by Leopeva64 via Twitter. He says that a “send password” button is available on the password manager. As you can see in the screenshot, the feature is under an overflow menu next to each username and password combination.
The sending password ability seems promising. However, it’s not yet active, and clicking on the buttons results in nothing. The feature might be activated in the coming months.
Google adds send password ability to Chrome password manager
If you are using the Google Chrome password manager, you know that the browser already offers a “copy password” button. It allows users to copy and send a password to others. However, the new feature would make it easier to share passwords in an encrypted way, as it happens by just clicking on a button. As said, the feature is not yet active, and you will hear more about it in the coming months. To shed more light on the new features just added to the Google Chrome password manager, it’s good to know that the service has just got a “Note” field. Users can write any note they want, including when the password is updated, or add personal references. Leopeva64 again spots this, and he says that a “Note” field appears at the bottom of the Edit password window. Having a built-in password manager made Google Chrome a top choice for those who care about protecting their privacy. There are many third-party services such as LastPass and 1Password that users can opt for them. However, adding a built-in password manager helps Chrome users to have everything in one place.
