According to a Newsroom post, Samsung India achieved this record by enabling 1820 consumers to simultaneously unbox the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The #EpicUnboxing event was conducted in 19 venues across 17 cities in the country on March 5. These include New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, and Jaipur. “It is my pleasure to announce that Samsung India Electronics Private Limited has set a new record for the ‘Most people unboxing simultaneously – multiple venues’ with 1820 successful participants. A never-been-done-before attempt, I congratulate Samsung on becoming Officially Amazing!” said Swapnil Dangarikar, Official Adjudicator, Guinness World Records.
Samsung sets an unusual Guinness World Record with the Galaxy S22 Ultra
A Guinness World Record for most people unboxing a product simultaneously is quite unusual but not new. From what we can see on the official Guinness World Records website, it has been around at least since 2019. Xiaomi had previously held the record with 703 participants, achieved in December 2019 in New York, US. In May 2020, Chinese consumer electronics company Haier broke the record for most people unboxing online simultaneously with 1,037 participants. Samsung has now almost doubled that number. The participants in this record-breaking Samsung event were select customers who had pre-booked the Galaxy S22 Ultra ahead of its market launch in India, which is set for March 11. The company gave these “special customers” a limited edition Galaxy S22 Ultra containing the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Buds 2, as well as a thank you note. “I am thankful to all our consumers and epic fans who came together to make this a truly historic day for Samsung,” said Aditya Babbar, Senior Director & Head of Product Marketing, Samsung India.
