Today Samsung is officially announcing this beast, a gargantuan gaming monitor with a 57-inch 8K display. In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t the largest display Samsung makes. But it’s not the overall size that makes this such an exciting reveal. It’s the fact that this is a gaming monitor at this size. Once again, Samsung is launching the world’s largest gaming monitor. That title was previously held by Samsung Odyssey Ark launched in 2021. A 55-inch curved gaming monitor with a slick feature called Cockpit Mode that would turn the monitor into a vertical display. Some of the more exciting details were its 55-inch 4K screen and the 16:9 aspect ratio. Samsung took some of the Odyssey Ark’s best specs and is implementing them again.

The new Odyssey Neo G9 is a spec-heavy powerhouse

Samsung is pulling out all the stops with its latest flagship gaming monitor. Aside from the curved 57-inch 8K display, it’s also a Dual UDH Mini LED panel with a 32:9 aspect ratio. It also supports DisplayPort 2.1 (another world’s first), and comes with a 240Hz refresh rate. It also comes with Samsung Gaming Hub for easy access to games without a connected PC or console. Should you want that. All of this adds up to a display that is sure to be a surreal experience to game on. Albeit one that you’re certainly going to pay top dollar for. Samsung hasn’t officially announced pricing yet, and says that the monitor will launch later in 2023. But the thing to consider is all the futureproofed tech. Not only is this the world’s first 8K ultrawide gaming monitor, it’s using Dual UH Mini LED tech for the panel. The size is 57-inches, and it comes with a high refresh rate and is going to be the world’s first gaming monitor to support DisplayPort 2.1. All of that new and expensive tech isn’t going to be cheap. Especially considering the starting price of the Odyssey Ark was $3,500. If this is a little too rich for your blood, Samsung does have two other monitor options being announced. These will likely still be expensive, but not as much as the new Odyssey Neo G9.

Samsung unveils curved gaming monitors in two new sizes

Curved OLED gaming monitors from Samsung aren’t new, but they are new in 34-inch and 49-inch screen sizes. Alongside the new Neo G9, Samsung has two more curved gaming monitors coming. This includes the 34-inch Odyssey G8 OLED which was initially unveiled at IFA 2022 in Berlin, and the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. The former will be a 34-inch OLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 175Hz refresh rate, and a 3440 x 1440 resolution. The latter, will be a 49-inch OLED panel with a 32:9 aspect ratio, a 240Hz refresh rate, and Dual Quad HD resolution. Other features include Samsung Gaming Hub, ports for Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C and more. No pricing was given for these either, but Samsung says they’ll arrive at samsung.com and retailers “very soon.”
