Next up, Snapchat+ is adding Post View Emoji to give users a unique signature to sign off their Snaps. You can select a custom emoji that will be shown to your friends immediately after they view a Snap you send them. This doesn’t serve much purpose in terms of functionality but certainly gives you something to brag about. The other new feature for Snapchat+ users is also about bragging rights more than anything else. You get special backgrounds like “gleaming gold and a beach paradise” for your Bitmoji avatar. There aren’t any changes to your Bitmoji avatar itself. Last but not least, Snapchat is offering more custom app icons to paid subscribers. You can select from multiple new designs that will appear as the Snapchat icon on the app drawer.
Snapchat+ already has over one million users
Snapchat+ debuted in late June. It offered a modest set of exclusive perks at launch. Paying users can change the app icon, see who re-watched their story, and pin a friend as a “BFF” to the top of their chat list. This is the first major feature drop for the service during its six months of existence. Despite the limited feature set, Snapchat+ has already garnered more than one million subscribers. This is solid growth for the platform. This feature drop may further boost its growth. The company says it will add more features to the subscription service in the coming months while gradually expanding its availability globally. At launch, Snapchat+ was only available in nine countries. These include the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Over the past six weeks, the company has rolled out its paid subscription service to 16 more countries. Snapchat+ is now also available in India, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, and Austria. The company plans to expand it more countries in the coming months.
