For those that don’t, this release will let you play four classic games across a number of different platforms. The games included will be Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. All four games will be remastered and come with some pretty cool bonus features. Most notably the ability to play each of the four games in classic mode or in a new anniversary mode. The anniversary mode for example will let you play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles in each game. Sonic Origins will also launch across just about every major platform. Including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch (coming soon), and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Sonic Origins launches in June for $40
If you’re eager to get this game into your hands, you will still have a little bit to wait. SEGA will launch the game pack on June 23 with a starting price of $40. You can pre-order starting today though. The one thing to note is that there are a number of different editions and DLCs. The Standard Edition will set you back $40 and it comes with all four main games. As well as both the classic and anniversary modes. Then there’s the Digital Deluxe Edition which comes with the main game hard versions of missions, character animation in the menu, camera controls over the main menu islands, character animations during music islands, and additional music tracks from MegaDrive/Genesis titles. The good news is that the Digital Deluxe Edition is only $45. So for $5 extra you get a ton of bonuses, which really does make this the better value. There’s also going to be DLC for 100 bonus coins, mirror mode, letterbox backgrounds, and more. With separate DLC for just the music you get in Digital Deluxe and another for the remaining bonuses. While it seems a little convoluted, it appears SEGA is trying to give consumers a way to customize what bonuses they want. If you’d like to pre-order, you can find the available platforms and different edition bundles here.
