You also won’t need to be a subscriber of PlayStation Plus to be a part of PlayStation Stars. However, you do get some additional benefits if you are a PS Plus subscriber. Namely, you can earn PlayStation Stars points anytime you purchase a game on the PlayStation Store. You can also earn points by completing different tasks like booting up your console and playing any game each month. You can then use all your acquired points for a wide array of different rewards. So there definitely seems to be some incentive to collecting as many as you can.

The PlayStation Stars loyalty program lets you earn PSN funds

Of the many things this new loyalty program will offer, PSN funds are likely going to be one of the most sought-after rewards. Sony says that players will be able to spend their points in a special PlayStation Stars catalog. Which may include PSN funds and select PlayStation Store products. Sony says “may” here likely because there won’t always be PSN funds available as a redeemable reward. But the company probably has plans to include them from time to time. In addition to spending points on PSN funds and PlayStation Store products, players will also be able to earn digital collectibles. Sony doesn’t give out any detailed specifics of what these collectibles are. But it does say that they will be “digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation” There will also always be new collectibles to earn. With some of them being ultra-rare for that little bit of bragging rights. These collectibles cannot be traded or sold either. So, they’re only for the player that acquires them.

Players can complete a variety of campaigns to earn points

As for the activities to earn points, players will be able to complete a variety of campaigns that will earn them points to spend. While there will be easier ones like logging on to your console monthly and playing any game, others will require more challenging tasks to be completed. Such as being the first person to earn a platinum trophy in your time zone. Other campaigns may ask players to earn a specific trophy and win tournaments for online games. Sony plans to launch PlayStation Stars later this Fall. And it sounds like a really neat way to reward PlayStation fans who play on their PlayStation consoles regularly.
