Upcoming Sony Xperia product is “made for pro gamers”

Along with the announcement, there is also a short video teaser. It shows a person playing a game on the phone, and the company is also using the #BornToGame hashtag. Sony did mention that this product will also suit gaming streamers. So, what’s this all about? Is Sony planning to launch a gaming phone on September 12? Well, that is possible, though it’s not as likely. We haven’t really heard anything about a gaming phone thus far, and it’s more likely a smartphone accessory. One thing is for sure, it is smartphone-related, as this will be an Xperia product. If we had to guess what Sony will announce, we’d say a mobile controller for a gaming phone. Why? Well, the answer is actually simple, and it makes sense.

We’ll probably get a physical gaming controller for Android

Some of you probably know that Sony partnered up with BackBone earlier this year. The two companies basically launched the BackBone One PlayStation Edition controller for iOS. Well, that controller may be coming to Android. That is what will most likely happen, even though we won’t discard the possibility of a gaming phone. Perhaps Sony did a good job keeping things under wraps, so that’s why nothing surfaced thus far. If Sony does opt to launch such a device, it would be the first time in 11 years. The last gaming device from Sony came in the form of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play back in 2011. So, that was a Sony Ericsson phone, while the two companies were still operating together in the mobile space. Anything is possible, and we’ll have to wait until September 12 in order to find out what does Sony have up its sleeve.
