Both the Galaxy S21 and iPhone 13 Pro Max faired pretty well in the drop test
For the drop test, both phones were dropped on their backs from about 1.5 meters onto a concrete slab. Then the phones were dropped on their sides, and finally, their fronts 10 times. Both phones performed similarly, in that their glass cracked on the first impact. After all was said and done, the Galaxy S21 Ultra had both its back and front cracked after the test. About halfway through the test, the display started to glitch and act up, but that was fixed by locking and unlocking the phone. The metal housing for the camera package did a great job at protecting it from cracking. Overall, after the 12 drops, the Galaxy was still functional. The iPhone 13 Pro Max’s results were similar with a big difference. The glass housing protecting the camera package was damaged, but fortunately, the camera lenses weren’t cracked at all. As for the display, there weren’t any functionality glitches as in the case with the Galaxy, only a few dead pixels. The main difference is the fact that the back glass on the iPhone was significantly more damaged. It was cracked to the point where shards were coming off of the phone, which isn’t quite safe. All in all, both phones took significant cosmetic damage but were all still functional.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is still a great phone
Even though it’s last year’s flagship, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is still a compelling buy. It has a 6.8-inch QHD Dynamic OLED display that can run at 120Hz. It’s Gorilla Glass Victus that protected the Galaxy S21 in the drop test against the iPhone 13. It’s running the Snapdragon 888 (Exynos 2100 internationally) with the Adreno 660 GPU (Mali-G78 MP14). It maxes out at 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. It has a 5000 mAh battery. For its camera package, it has a 108 MP main sensor with a 10 MP telephoto camera and a 10 MP ultrawide.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the latest phone from Apple
Apple just released the iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s taken the place of the iPhone 12. It has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR Display at 1284 x 2778 pixels; it also runs at 120Hz. It’s powered by the A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core Apple GPU. The iPhone maxes out at 512GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Keeping the lights on is a 4373 mAh battery. Lastly, it has a 12 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 12 MP telephoto camera. Both phones are being pitted head-to-head until the next Galaxy phone comes out.
