This app mimics Android 12’s one-handed mode, in a way
This app is called “One Hand Operation Support”, and it’s far from a direct replacement. Some of you may find it useful, though, which is why I decided to report on it. It’s not exactly an immensely popular app, but it sure is interesting. So, there are two versions of this app, one free, and one paid. There’s not much difference between the two, but the paid one does remove ads, and it brings some new icons, which is something we’ll talk about in a second. The paid version of the app has a really high rating of 4.8 stars. Not many people rated it, but those who have seem to like it, probably because it’s really difficult to find a similar app. That being said, you’re probably wondering how this works? Well, when you install the app, and allow it the necessary permissions, including accessibility and drawing over other apps, you’ll be good to go. A semi-transparent cat icon will appear on the right side of your display. Every time you tap that icon, this app will mimic Android 12’s one-handed mode. It will lower the top portion of the display for you, so that you can reach it.
There are some limitations here
Do note that there are some limitations, though. You cannot scroll while the display is lowered. If you try to do that, you’ll just move that entire portion of the display as you would a window in picture-in-picture mode. Many would say this is a huge minus for the app, but the developer probably couldn’t have done it differently without root. Still, it’s quite useful for a quick tap of an option that is otherwise unreachable without hand gymnastics. There are some additional options inside the app. You can use that icon to navigate your phone as well. You can set it to act as a back button if you swipe left, for example. There are quite a few options available, and if you have a paid version of the app, you can change that cat icon for something else. It’s a somewhat unique app, at least I haven’t stumbled upon something that mimics Android 12’s one-handed mode. If you’d like to try it out, the app is free, and you can get it from the link below.
