Apps taking actions when you’re taking screenshots is rather rare, but it happens. WhatsApp is working on a way to prevent people from taking screenshots of View-Once messages. Also, Wish provides you a link to the item that you’re screenshotting so that you can share it along with the picture.

Twitter does not like people screenshotting tweets

There aren’t many reasons why people take screenshots of tweets other than to share them on other platforms. Why share a link that will take a person off-platform when you could just post a picture? That makes things easier, but Twitter is not about making things easier. Whenever you’re screenshotting a tweet, Twitter will give you a little pop-up, according to multiple users on Twitter (via TechCrunch). This pop-up very passive-aggressively nudges you to share the tweet within Twitter rather than sharing it off the platform. Why should other platforms get all the fun? When you get the popup, you’ll have two options. You have the option to either copy the link or retweet it. Both bring people to Twitter, thus encouraging engagement on the actual platform. Twitter sees zero action if people comment on Instagram or any other platform. So, Twitter is justified in that way. However, navigating to a completely different platform just to look at a picture is just inconvenient. Not only that but if a person doesn’t have a Twitter account, then they will ignore the link altogether. So far, all the examples we are seeing are from Twitter for iPhone and Mac devices. This could either be a test for a limited number of users, or it could be another example of features coming to iOS before android. However, we’re not sure Android users are upset about not getting this feature early. While we’re waiting for the edit tweet button to finally hit the public and the resolution to the Twitter versus Elon musk epic, it seems that Twitter wants to tide it over until then.
