ORIGINAL ARTICLE: With the Google Pixel 6 series, Google introduced its ‘Magic Eraser’ feature. That feature enables you to remove specific items off of your picture, when you take it. Well, a new Pixel 6 bug just came to light, and it has to do with the Magic Eraser feature.
New Pixel 6 bug crashes the Google Photos app upon Magic Eraser activation
It seems like this bug is quite recent. It’s possible it arrived with the latest Google Photos app update, or something of the sort. So, what’s going on? Well, the Magic Eraser feature is causing the Google Photos app to crash. After you snap a photo, and tap on the Magic Eraser button, the Google Photos app crashes. That is, at least, the case for quite a few users out there. It was reported by James Fortier on Reddit, and Alan Friedman from Phone Arena is having the same problem.
Clearing cache & data didn’t help things
More users on Reddit confirmed they’re having the same issue. People have tried clearing the cache and data of the app, in order to see if it will help, but it did not. If this is a Google Photos app bug, then it should be sorted out soon. It is much easier for Google to sort it out via an app update, than via a phone update. The company still didn’t officially respond to this issue, so we’ll have to wait to get more information. The Magic Eraser feature is immensely useful, and easy to use. It was one of the most talked-about features of the Pixel 6 series when it launched. Many people seem to be using it, so it’s no wonder this bug annoys them. The Pixel 6 series has been plagued with bugs basically since launch. The latest update, luckily, fixed many of the issues people were having with the devices. Let’s hope Google will react fast to this bug, and let’s hope it’s a Google Photos app bug.
