As privacy is a real issue with online services today, this feature will help users keep their messaging even more secure. The source of this information also shared an expo on how this feature will be put to use on WhatsApp, once it becomes available. This new view-once messaging feature is in its beta testing stage and might make its way to the global audience in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp view-once message feature, old stuff with a new application

The view-once feature is not exactly new to WhatsApp users. In the second quarter of 2021, the platform rolled out the view-once feature for photos sent via WhatsApp. With this, users could send a picture to recipients who could only view it once, after which it becomes unavailable. Finally, users will soon be able to use this view-once feature while sending messages to one another. Just like with pictures sent using the view-once feature, recipients of messages sent using this feature will once get to see the message once. After the recipient views the message, it becomes inaccessible to them. Once it is available for use, the WhatsApp view-once for messages will join yet another messaging privacy feature. This second feature is known as “Disappearing messages,” and it deletes sent messages within a set time after it is sent. With these two privacy-oriented features, users will have more control over how they send messages on WhatsApp. The arrival of this feature on WhatsApp won’t bring an end to various privacy concerns. It will simply help users better secure specific messages they send using the Meta-owned platform. A future stable update will make this feature accessible to millions of users.
