This feature isn’t out yet, and there’s a chance that it won’t be. The company likes to test some features on premium users through a special program. You can temporarily enable these experimental features and give your feedback on them. If you want to try out the feature, you can go to this link and look through what the company is working on. Just know that you need to be a premium member to use them. When you turn on the feature, you’ll want to restart the app after a few minutes.
YouTube will make seeking through videos easier
Sometimes, when you’re watching a YouTube video, you’re looking for a specific spot, and that can be difficult when you’re watching longer videos. You see a small preview of the video as you scroll through, and that does help a good amount. With this new experiment, YouTube will make it easier to see where you’re going to land. When you summon the progress bar and tap on the little red dot, all you have to do is swipe up. At that point, you’ll see a row of thumbnails rise from the bottom of the screen. At that point, you’ll be able to swipe through those thumbnails. Each thumbnail you swipe through will fill the screen, so you’ll have a better idea of where you’re navigating to. When you’ve found the right thumbnail, you can tap on it and you’ll be taken to that location in the video. The page doesn’t really tell you how to cancel this if you don’t want to navigate to that location. Most likely, you should be able to just swipe down to cancel it. This experiment will be going on until July 27th, so you’ll have a month to try it out before it’s gone. When this feature is gone, there’s no guarantee that it will come back.
